I recently had a conversation with a client who hired me to handle their company’s social media strategy. As I was going over the client’s website and other marketing materials to come up with a strategy, something kept nagging me.
I finally figured out the problem. Their brand was having an identity crisis, and unless this was handled, their social media engagement would fall flat.
What I further realized is that a lot of brands especially small businesses are suffering from this same crisis.

And speaking of friends, I must say I have great friends.
Because they didn’t get annoyed at me for saying for the past X months that I needed to refresh/revitalize/renew and about any word that started with an “r-e” to my brand.
Even saying “my brand” sounds cheesy to me, because I believe that building a brand should be organic and no frills and based on the real you.
Since I’m very busy, and constantly juggling lot of balls in the air, I needed to refresh/revitalize/renew my personal brand in a way that could be done relatively easily.

Let me backtrack a little.
Everyone’s talking about personal branding these days. The advice says to do this or to do that, and it all sounds so good.
But I wonder if these advice givers really mean it?
You see, I’ve had the opportunity to work with people who’ve established themselves as major personal brands. Unfortunately, these same individuals told me how unhappy they were because they were living a lie. Although, these were people were raking in high six and seven figures, they didn’t even want to run their business, because they were nothing like the brand they built.
